23 days, 23 hours, 0 minutes (gotta love those numbers!). I can't believe we are approaching the end of January already. February is going to just fly by, I can feel it! I've got so much to look forward to in the coming month. I'm kicking off February with a beer tasting at Java Vino on Friday. I've never been there, so that should be a fun experience.
A couple friends and I are kicking off a monthly out-to-dinner night next Wednesday. We would like to get together once a month to try out a new restaurant for dinner. This month we are going to sample The Hungry Peddler. It has been around forever, but I've never managed to get there. I'll let you know how I like it.
I'm going to try to squeeze in two different community theatre plays this month. I haven't gotten to see La Crosse Community Theatre's "Lend Me A Tenor" yet and this is the last weekend. Next weekend is Appleseed Community Theatre's "Company." I got an ad on the air for them, so they are thanking me with free tickets!
I hear there is another Dazy Head Mazy concert coming up in February at Busters in Mankato (where I went to see them the day before last Thanksgiving). That was a good time and I'd like to be able to do it again. I'll have to see if there are available doggy sitters!
There are two Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos shows coming to our area in February. I've got friends addicted to them and so I'm guessing I'll be going to both shows. The show always promises to be loads of fun. I'm going to try to keep my friend off the stage this time!
My friend, Blondy's, birthday is coming this month and we traditionally go to The Freighthouse for dinner. I'm REALLY looking forward to that! They have this filet teriyaki that is to die for and recently I've discovered the absolute deliciousness of the shrimp in a garlicky, buttery, wine sauce. Oh, I can hardly wait!
The whole whirlwind month, I'll be looking forward to my trip to Cozumel. I'm sure there will be lots of preparations involved with that. We have plans to get pedicures and I'm sure there will be a swimsuit shopping expedition. I'm thinking that I may also use up some of those tanning credits I have left over from last time around.
There is going to be a lot to write about this month, so stay tuned!

So, how long is too long to live with pain? Seeing as though I've had headaches pretty much every day since the late 80's, my perspective may be off. I was encouraged recently to think there may be another option with chiropractic care. The immediate pain in my neck and subsequent headaches from that subsided and the numbness in my face eventually went away. But what of the long-term, every day pain? What are we doing to get rid of that? Apparently it has been nothing and my neck pain is getting worse as well. My neck was actually in more pain after my last chiropractic visit and causing tremendous muscle strain and a worse-than-normal headache. I was hoping for a respite from the pain after my visit this afternoon, but I am not feeling much better. I think it is time to get a second opinion. I'm disappointed. Hope my have died.

Well, I made it in to work today. The roads were a little sketchy, but at least the snow has stopped...for now. Yesterday, they sent us home early due to the heavy snowfall. I picked up some popcorn and watched a movie with Peanut. It was a good night in. Peanut, unfortunately, has been having some achy hips that I've been trying to treat with an aspirin about every other day. Well, last night in the backyard, snow-filled trails, he cried out in pain as if he had stepped on something, twisted a foot, or froze a paw...who knows. I can't see any damage, but he is definitely limping now. Poor little guy. He was telling me how he wanted to win the HGTV dream home in Key West and move some place without snow. I'm working on it, little guy.

It is Xmas party day here at the radio station. The office officially closes at 2pm, but it is six minutes after noon and I am the only one left here. I have a chiropractor appointment at 12:30pm, which will hopefully cure me (at least for the night). I am in constant pain and forgot my ice pack at home. If all else fails, I will ice from the inside out. Check-in at the hotel isn't until 3pm, so either I'll have to stay and get some stuff done here or maybe they will let us check in a little early and I can get a nap in before the big festivities tonight. That would be nice. I was out celebrating a friend's birthday last night, so my batteries could use some recharging. Ooooh! A sales person just came back! Company!

I am so happy to say that a trip to Cozumel, Mexico is being booked on my behalf today! It couldn't come at a better time. It is bitterly cold here! I heard yesterday on the radio that this week of January is typically the coldest of the year. Those radio people really know what they're talking about! I think I better start a countdown timer to my trip...and it is up and running! Only 1 month, 8 days, 22 hours, and 48 minutes until we jet off to sunny Cozumel for a week. Oooh! I should put in for vacation too. So much to think about....sandy beaches, blue waters, warm weather...

So, last night did not prove to be one of my most stellar bowling nights, but I did fairly above average for me with a 99, 114, and 125. The place was rather crowded and the service was slow. I did, however, win $9 back from the $10 I paid in the last time I bowled (when I was actually a bowling rock star with a 168!). I alternated drinking my beer and using the cold can to ice my stiff neck. It did not like the two and a half month hiatus from chiropractic care and now with it back in the hands of the doc, it is complaining to me. I've been there three times this week and need to go back on Friday. I think I have learned my lesson. Well, I'm off to my co-worker's going away party at the Starlite Lounge. I've thought about dirty martinis pretty much all day now. And I'm out.

There is nothing more satisfying than being able to have a campfire in the middle of the winter when it is supposed to be cold outside! Okay, I could think of a few things, but our cold weather campfire last Saturday ranks right up there. In preparation for the cold weather campfire, I warmed the hot buttered rum, dressed in layers, bundled up in my hat, scarf, mittens, and down winter coat and trudged across the snowy yard towards the fire pit. As soon as I arrived at the fire, I knew I had overdressed. I stripped off my coat and mittens and moved my chair back as far away from the fire as I could. The night proved enjoyable all around with sparkling conversation, savory hot dogs, and sweet smores. The experience may just sustain me through this cold weather until it is actually campfire season again.

Although a little bit excessive, I watched Meet The Robinsons a total of three times yesterday. Once through, once with commentary, and once again. In my defense, I was home sick and am thoroughly sick of all the DVDs I currently own. Needless to say, I enjoyed the movie. It presented a good New Year's lesson about letting go and moving forward. I had a rough New Year's Eve and probably needed that message. I know that I still have heaps of work to do in the social anxiety arena, but there is nothing I can do about the past. I'll need to do a better job of dealing with it in the future. For someone that doesn't make New Year resolutions, that is the best you'll get from me for now. Keep moving forward.
