Back In One Piece...Almost

Well, I'm back on American soil. We got into Houston last night around dinner time and settled in for a long layover. We boarded late for our 9:05 flight to Minneapolis and then sat on the plane for an hour while they loaded the excessive amount of baggage and then removed some due to weight issues. We finally touched down in the land of Minnesota shortly after midnight and because Shirley's bag was one that had been removed from the flight, we arranged to have it shipped to LAX (not Los Angeles) and headed to the hotel to pick up their car. We finally arrived in Tremp City, more than a little punch drunk, at about 5:15 this morning. I've got to admit that our day of travel in Cozumel was much better than our day of travel in the U.S. On Saturday we rented a car and drove along the coast. Our first stop was Mr. Sancho's where we enjoyed a margarita, a dip in the calmer-than-our-resort seas, and some shopping. Apart from a few jellyfish stings, our day was going well. Continuing along the coast, we happened upon the reggae bar, which apparently has seen better days. It had suffered a lot of damage from the hurricanes, but provided a refreshing water spray along the rocky shore. Our lunch stop at Playa Bonita was beautiful. The hurricanes had washed away most of the beach, so the water came crashing right up to the dining area. Lunch was tasty and after stuffing ourselves, we decided we needed a dip in the ocean. The beach looked beautiful, but there were a lot of rocks and crashing waves. Shirley and I decided to walk along the surf to try to scout out a less rocky location. Failed. I kicked into a rock under the water which knocked me over. I crawled up onto the beach to discover a broken nail and a small cut. Shirley came to my rescue with her first aid kit and after recovering from the initial pain, we hit the road again. The rest of the afternoon was pretty mellow as we finished our expedition up the coast. We did a little shopping at the last stop on the road and turned back into the setting sun to head back towards town. We arrived back at the hotel with darkness setting in around us and on my toe (yeah...I think I broke it) and spent a relaxing night on my balcony playing cards. The next morning we spent a few hours lazing in the sun on the beach listening to some Bob Marley before packing it in. It was a perfect way to soak up our last rays from Cozumel. Until next time...
