Oh My

I can't believe I made it through the day! I am trying to prepare for the big fireworks extravaganza this Friday for work, get my house ready for a vacation, get my work life ready for a vacation, and a little theatre design work on the side. Sheesh. I'm going to be so ready for a vacation!

Today I had a meeting out by the lake to decide on a final layout and hash out a few details. It was a beautiful day for the drive and the outdoor meeting. If the weather holds, it is going to be absolutely perfect weather on Friday! I almost can't wait to spend the whole day out there!

While swinging through the south side of town, I picked up vacuum bags from the Electrolux dealer conveniently open only from 8am to 5pm. Now if only I could get off my porch couch and do the vacuuming.
Tomorrow I'll have more cleaning to do at home, cotton candy supplies to pick up, and theatre tickets to wrap up and ship off. When will I have to to get my car serviced? Planning, and errands, and packing... Oh my!

Here We Go

So I am still sick, but thanks to a visit to the doctor, I am getting over the pink eye fairly quickly. I suppose I should try to get more rest. Enter my new BFF, Nyquill. We are enjoying our snuggle time together.
I unfortunately didn't make it to St. Louis this weekend, but I did manage a mini-Illinois Adventure to the boy's favorite local pizza place in town. The lovely picture of the dancing dogs is hanging in the bar there. It pales in comparisson to the full wall-length one of dogs sitting at a bar. I just love it! And the pizza was pretty damn good too. After a recommendation from the couple sitting next to us, we tried the EBA- Everything But Anchovies. Pretty phenomenal if you ask me. I was even lucky enough to get custody of the leftovers!
Today I managed to get some housework done, run some errands, and get things squared away at work so hopefully I'll be able to get everything done this week. Friday is our big fireworks shindig and it is going to be busy, busy, busy! I'll be thankful for my new work radio this week.

I may have had too fantastic of a time over the weekend. That tickle in my throat after visiting Buffalo Wild Wings last Thursday has turned into full-blown death settled in my lungs. I'm definitely not feeling well. And I'm very tired. Of course the super-fun times of the weekend could have added to my exhaustion.

My Tremplo Gang friends joined me Friday evening at my co-worker's going away party and then we hit up Franny's for a few. We ended up with a dance off in the street at closing time.  Saturday we had a lovely breakfast at the Charlie Parker's and then hit up Franny's for a bloody mary around 1pm. We had a big day and finally hit the hay around midnight. Sunday I attempted to recuperate. Obviously I still need more of that.

I think I'll take a little time off tonight to see if I can't get back on track. I have a St. Louis getaway planned for the weekend, so it would be nice to be back in tip top shape for that. I'm holding my breath for a brewery tour, but it is still up in the air. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Change of Plans

Due to the fantastic news that I am now expecting TWO Tremplo Gang friends in Springfield this very as-we-speak-end, we will not be able to make it to St. Louis to explore. I will save that for next weekend. I think I even have a puppy sitter booked. Everything is coming together nicely.

The Gang is currently staked out in Eau Claire, WI and will soon be assembling troupes to head south to infiltrate the Illinois border. I can hardly wait!

Book It Danno

I feel after making it through today, it is going to be a slip and slide ride into the weekend and I'm ready for it! I'm very much looking forward to my Tremplo Gang visitor and I'm sure we'll cook up plenty of fun together. We're starting off the weekend with a little going away party shenanigans and most definitely Franny's. Who could resist? I've got to figure out a new restaurant to try out. I couldn't let this opportunity for company on an Illinois Adventure pass me by.

I reserved a hotel room in St. Louis for this Saturday so my Tremplo Gang visitor and I can do a little night life exploration in the big city. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a dog sitter. I wish my parents would just move down here already so they could help me out like back in the day! The weather is warmer and we have less winter... just sayin'!

I have this sneaking suspicion I will be 150% ready for a vacation after our big 4th of July shindig. Today I dedicated a good portion of my day to working on some of the details. I hope to have more wrapped up tomorrow morning.

It seems that in working through the details I've figured out even more things that need to be done. Isn't that the way these things work? However, I'm beginning to think I may be able to handle this after all.

In the meantime I will take a little mini-vacation tonight with a glass of sangria and chicken caesar lasagna. What a fabulous Tuesday vacation. I think I even see a little sunlight outside!

Manic Monday

My jam-packed weekend turned out fairly well. I had a quite interesting evening out at The Curve Inn Friday to see Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. Saturday found me hosting a cookout for a few folks, which turned into quite a lovely afternoon and evening. And Sunday I ditched hitting the LPGA solo in favor of laziness. I loved practically every minute of it!

And not to be outdone by the craziness of the weekend, my Monday was pretty manic as well. Work days just fly by these days and I still worry I won't get everything done. However, the panic pace has slowed a little, which works better for me.

My lawn mower burn from two weeks ago is on its way to healing and apart from some mystery weekend bruising, I think I'm feeling pretty fine. I'll need to be in tip top condition for my out-of-town guest visiting all the way from up north in Minnesota. I can hardly wait! Four days left!

Looking Up, Looking Forward

I paid my chiropractor another visit today and again was impressed with how a little machine could further increase the mobility in my neck. I made an appointment for Monday, but am really hoping that I'll be in tip top shape after that. I'm practically as good as new.

Things are really looking up. Work is easing up and my thoughts turn to my extra-curricular activities. I don't know where this week has gone, but I'm looking forward to some fun times this weekend! Friday I have a date with my former co-worker friend to see Captain Geech & The Shrimp Shack Shooters and then on Sunday I will claim another Illinois adventure by attending the LPGA. I'm not even sure what that stands for except that it involves Ladies and Golf. I don't think there are letters in there for the sky box food and drink, but they are worth noting.

So, I'm a dork. I don't believe I've ever claimed to be otherwise. However, I have new evidence.

This morning I woke up seemingly pain free. I did usual morning routine stuff and hit the yoga mat for some early morning pilates. Apart from having been too long since I'd been on the mat, everything appeared normal. That was until I was doing some leg work. I was laying on my side, propping my head up with my hand and all of a sudden it felt as though my neck sprung.

There was a lot of pain involved. I tried to stretch out the neck while slipping past the rest of the leg routine. Luckily it was near the end of the workout. I worked through the rest as I could and when I hit the showers, I used the hottest water possible on my neck to try to ease the tension.

After driving to work and realizing I couldn't check my blind spot and couldn't cradle a phone on my shoulder, I made an appointment for the chiropractor. I am glad to say they increased my mobility with a little jack hammer to the spine and I've been biofreezing it up since. Hopefully this won't be another three-month chiropractic ordeal like the last time. *Fingers crossed.*

Springfield Under Water

A little pictoral journey through flooded downtown Springfield for my out of town followers. This was from Wednesday, May 26th. Thanks to Robin for the photos. Unfortunately, her car was one of those under water. :(

What Can I Say?

I had an extraordinarily challenging weekend. I got my house in order today between lazing around on the porch. I even got Peanut in the tub for a bath. I'm starting to feel like I'm back on the horse.

Catching Up

I feel as though I'm catching up. It is only 6:30pm and I'm done with work already! It is still daylight outside and everything. I am starting to feel better about being able to accomplish my work during the workday. How sweet is that?

I actually haven't put in too many hours this week. It has been a pretty laid back four-day week. On Tuesday I left right at five so I could hit up dinner night at Osaka. It was fantastically fabulous as usual. On my way home I stopped by the Food Fantasies health food store to look for a soap Sherman had recommended. I was able to find it there and my neighbor and her two girls were standing right in front of it. How funny is that?

Wednesday I high-tailed it out of work early so I could dip in to Docker's for a few with a couple co-workers before meeting up with the boy to try out a new restaurant. It was most likely run by the mob, but the calzone was stellar. I enjoyed the leftovers today.

Tonight I predict I have a movie waiting for me at home. Peanut and I could use a little movie snuggle time. I'll need it tonight so I can jump right into promotion weekend with SoHo Music Fest on Friday and our Big Hog Giveaway on Saturday. Rain, rain, stay away!

By Monday with those two promotions under our belts and the new receptionist with a week under her belt, we should be all caught up!

That lawn mower engine is HOT, HOT, HOT! After running my previous lawn mower into the ground and burning the flesh off my arm on the engine of the replacement mower, I think I've come to the conclusion that I need people to care for me.

I swear I've been mowing lawns for years and years. It just seems like I've lost the magic. Is that possible? Is there magic in lawn mowing? As I sit icing my poor, burned arm I wonder if there is a lesson in here somewhere.
