Harvest
While Peanut was sniffing around the backyard tonight, I wandered over to the back fence to inspect the intruiging onion-looking plants in my back yard. I pulled one out and sure enough, it was garlic.
They are pretty tiny little bulbs, probably because I didn't care for them as I would if I had a clue what they were. For the past two years here, I thought they were onions and I was happy to mow them down considering my allergy to onions.
Touring my hosts' garden in Wisconsin, I recognized her scapes looked the same as my backyard "onions." I'm so happy they are garlic! I need to take better care of them this fall and winter.
For the time being, I'm going to try them fresh mixed with a pile of basil, some walnuts, oil, and parmesan...pesto!
