GoFundMe

In February 2020 I was laid off when the hotel I was working for closed. I had a dream of travel to visit friends in far reaches of the country that I didn't see as often as I would have liked while I was working long hours at the hotel. I had cashed out my 401k, so I had the resources. I wanted to see more of our country first hand from the driver's seat, not hopping over it in a plane.

Little did I know that my unemployment would quickly become semi-permanent when COVID kicked in full force in Chicagoland, the United States, and around the world. My dream of travel quickly became out of reach as I began a four-month quarantine alone in Illinois, miles away from family and friends. By July 2020 and after spending four months completely alone, I decided to make the trip to Kentucky to visit my aunt who was also spending this time all alone.

With driving being the safest form of transportation at the time, I realized a piece of my dream to see more of the country. Fast forward to June 2021. With my 401k savings finally depleted after nearly a year and a half of unemployment, I put in my notice with my landlord, packed up my belongings, and put them in storage.

My heart is calling me to finish the adventure I dreamed of before the pandemic. I have a plan to take up a nomadic life, if only for a short period of time. I will get to see friends and family in Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, and every gorgeous place in between.

The bare bones of the trip is coming in at over 4,000 miles and I'm estimating fuel costs alone of about $1,000. I plan to stay with friends to help keep expenses down and I'm all about free entertainment and sight seeing. But the real purpose of this trip is to learn to listen to my own inner voice to follow the path I'm called to travel.

I felt called to this trip at this time and so I trust that the universe is planning to support me every step of the way. If you're so inspired to do so, I would be forever grateful for your support on this spiritual journey!
