Flow

DOWNTOWN LEXINGTON, VA

I arrived downtown Lexington, VA, shortly before my scheduled meeting time with my Lexington host, so I sat in my car while I continued to listen to The Worthy Project on Audible. By the time I made my way up the block to Southern Inn Restaurant, I walked in about 30 seconds behind my host. I surprised him with a big hug and exclaimed "I'm a hugger now!"

We were meeting there because they were hosting a guest bartender to benefit the local Habitat for Humanity organization. The two people with name tags started up a conversation with my host, which transferred to me. They both used to live in Wisconsin and know where my home town is. What are the chances?!

My host and I ordered our cocktails, a Manhattan and Brandy Old Fashioned respectively, but they were too complicated for our guest bartender to make for us, so the professional handled it. She didn't even give me a hard time for ordering my Old Fashioned Wisconsin style. We spent the next hour or so catching up before my hostess arrived to join us for dinner.

I enjoyed a Greek salad with grilled chicken, one of my favorites. I love fresh food at the end of a travel day! My hostess ended up not feeling well enough to eat as she has been recovering from Lyme's Disease. We boxed up her unfinished dinner and headed back towards my new home base for the next few days. Remembering how their dog, Lola, had been super barky with me a few years ago when I visited, I sent Reiki on ahead to our meeting. As we drove up the long and winding private drive towards their house, I was thinking how picturesque the landscape was when we turned up their driveway to see several deer in their front yard.

Upon entry, Lola did find the need to bark at me, but I sent more Reiki and she quickly calmed down to my host and hostess' surprise. This opened the door for us discussing my recent Reiki placements. After my hostess changed into something more comfortable, she curled up on the couch with her head on my lap. Perhaps she can sense my energy too. I put my hands on her shoulder while I explained that Reiki is a life force energy that flows through me, it's not from me. It facilitates peace and calm in the body to promote the body's own ability to heal. She noted right away that my hands were hot. Indeed they do get very hot, even clammy when Reiki is flowing, and sometimes I feel the heat throughout my whole body up my core.

After awhile she asked if I could put my hands on her neck since she had a kink in her neck that had been bothering her. After probably twenty or thirty minutes, she sat up and said, "That stuff really works." I nodded my head in agreement and let her know I felt great too. When the energy is flowing through my to someone else, I also benefit, so I was feeling super relaxed!

This was a driving factor to learning this energy healing modality in the first place. That and the fact that I had been called to it several times during meditations and even found myself encouraging someone else to explore that option at one point. (You should always take your own advice.) I eventually decided to go with the flow and signed up for the training, not knowing why or what for. During one of my meditative placements, I received the message "You are a healer. You have always been a healer." I went through the experience in late June and I am so blessed to have had this tool in my tool belt along this journey!

My hostess went off to bed for the night and my host and I enjoyed another glass of wine before I headed upstairs to settle into my new digs, ready to go with the flow of whatever my time in Lexington had in store for me.
