A Squatter's Life
After a quick tour of my new squatter’s paradise in Boynton
Beach, my host took me over to her home for a charcuterie board night.
Everything was amazing and I definitely over indulged in cheese. I love eating
real food after a day on the road!
After dinner, my host convinced her other house guest to
play a little piano. The two of them ended up sitting down together and playing
through a whole book of duet music including The Christmas Song (Chestnut’s
Roasting on an Open Fire). It was the perfect entertainment for the evening.
Afterwards, I headed back to her old, empty place to try to
settle in for the night. There was an air mattress and a few blankets on the
floor, so I made up my bed. I situated my things in the bathroom area and
called it a night.
The next morning we did a round of cleaning including
bathrooms, garbage, and vacuuming. I cleared away some of the final things
remaining in closets and cabinets here and there and gathered them in the
kitchen area. I headed out for coffee leaving my host’s other house guest to
finish up.
My coffee adventure turned into brunch at the Original
Pancake House in Delray Beach. I enjoyed an amazing ham and cheese omelet that
rivaled my aunt’s famous soufflĆ© omelet (minus the cheese sauce) with a side of
gluten-free pancakes. I definitely had leftovers! I spent about an hour and a
half there as I wrote in my journal to try to catch up on the trip. I’ve
been attempting to get everything into a journal as quickly as possible, since
it seems like I’m not getting the blog posts up as quickly.
By the time I returned to the empty townhouse, the cleaning
was finished and most of the extra things that had remained in the house had
been cleaned out. It was looking even more abandoned except for a broken bed in
the main living area that was waiting for large item pick up later in the week.
I took the opportunity to vacuum the carpet in my bedroom and set up my things
in the closet and the kitchen.
I stocked up on groceries while I was out and so I headed
over to my host’s place to get dinner started. I planned to prepare a Steak andAsparagus dish on the Pampered Chef Deluxe Electric Grill & Griddle, but I
began by roasting red potatoes in the Pampered Chef Air Fryer for a RoastedRosemary Potato Salad. I love staying with people who have lots of Pampered
Chef products for me to use!
Dinner turned out great and my host really loved that potato
salad. We finished off my first full day in Boynton Beach with a couple rounds
of cards and I won the tournament that night. After heading back to “my place”
as I began to call it, I poured a glass of wine and pulled out my laptop to do a little writing so I’d
have blogs ready to publish when I had wi-fi access.
