Experiences Unfolding

SHAKESPEARE TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE

Driving down highway 75 after a short drive around Anna Maria Island, I jumped back on YouTube and was delivered more messages from Michael Singer’s podcast. The two podcasts that I heard really spoke to some of the things I had been discussing the night before. One was Giving Meaning to the Time Between Your Birth and Death and the other was Doing the Real Work to Free Yourself.

The following are some of the takeaways that I noted while driving:

  • The meaning of life is the experience of life.
  • Experiences are not good or bad, they’re just experiences.
  • You can only experience the moment in front of you. There is no decision to be made, its only experiences unfolding.
  • Life isn’t for you or against you, it just is what it is.
  • Christians would say “This is the day that the lord hath made” so enjoy it!
  • Einstein said E equals M C squared. Everything is energy.
  • Don’t think that things need to be a certain way in order for you to be happy. Look at why you are not happy because nothing on the outside will make you happy.
  • A wise person says “Hey, there’s something wrong with me I need to fix. I don’t want to be distracted from it.”
  • Life is not bothering you. You’re bothering yourself about life.
  • Let go of the stuff stored in your body. The more you practice this and stop pushing more stuff down by ignoring or trying to fix the bad feelings, the better and lighter you will become.
  • Like Shakespeare said “To thine own self be true.”
  • Look at your spirituality as a river. If you see a turbulent river, there are likely rocks below the surface. Spirituality is the natural state of being. To get in the flow, you need to remove the rocks that are obstacles to a peaceful flow.
  • So many people are drowning in the river, unaware they’re even in the river, just trying to stay afloat.
  • Don’t put too much emphasis on meditation. Set aside 15 minutes a day just to be aware that you’re aware. You don’t need to quite the thoughts. The point is to notice that you are the one in there observing the thoughts.
